Has there been a time in your life when you might have felt lost, alone, angry, frightened or even isolated? You may have felt that there was no way out. I offer one to one counselling in a warm, safe, friendly, confidential and non judgmental environment. For you to explore painful and difficult emotions.
Counselling provides an opportunity to explore ones thoughts and feelings, to find resources within yourself, so that we can work together to find out what is troubling you.
This can either be past or present events that have taken place in your life i.e. serious illnesses, relationship difficulties, loss, physical abuse, sexual abuse or psychological abuse. We can work together to explore those issues, for you to start living the quality of life you deserve.
My style of counselling:
I am a psychodynamic counsellor, which means I work with the unconscious process, linking the past with the present. This involves looking at past relationships. This could be parents, carers etc.
Questions that may be asked :
“How is your past influencing your behaviour now?”
” What are the underlining beliefs that prevent you from achieving satisfaction?”.
Amount of sessions:
I offer short and long-term sessions.
Amount of sessions will depend on the individual and their personal needs to make sure they are met to the highest standard.
In our first initial meeting we will explore whether this type of counselling meets your needs. We will also use this session to see if we can work together. We will discuss your concerns and issues and if we both feel this type of work suits you then we can book further sessions.
As your counsellor, I can certainly bring you a trust building relationship, warm presence, confidential space, along with empathy and my non-judgemental attitude.
As a qualified Counsellor, I adhere by the British Association for Counselling and psychotherapists (BACP) *Codes of Ethics and good practice.
The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) is a membership organisation and a registered charity that sets standards for therapeutic practice and provides information for therapists, clients of therapy, and then general public.
As the largest professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK, BACP aim to increase public understanding of the benefits of counselling and psychotherapy, raise awareness of what can be expected from the process of therapy and promote education and/or training for counsellors and psychotherapists.
