9. Health and Safety
No person under the age of 16 (sixteen) years shall be permitted on the premises unless accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 (eighteen) years.
i. Children should not be allowed to wander around the Centre on their own but must be accompanied and adequately supervised at all times by an adult. Adults accompanying children will be held responsible for their behaviour. Children must not be allowed to touch electrical equipment or similar goods in respect of health and safety
ii. Children must not get changed for activities in open public areas such as the foyer, hallways or coffee bar. Uses must ensure that children get changed in allocated rooms or in the toilet cubicles.
The only animals allowed into the Centre are Service Assistance Dogs such as guide dogs for the blind.
i. The Centre has a No Smoking policy in line with current legislation. A smoking area is provided. We do not allow the smoking of electronic cigarettes on our premises.
ii. The Hirer must ensure that the total number of people at any one time in any of the halls or rooms hired does not exceed the permitted capacity as specified by the Centre e.g. 70 people maximum in Room 7. (Please see Appendix A).
iii. If the number of guests exceeds the maximum permitted by the Centre regulations the Centre may require that persons leave the premises or additional rooms be occupied (if available) at the Hirer’s expense. It may be necessary to cancel the event without refund.
iv. Any breach of these conditions by the Hirer may prejudice any further booking of the premises which in any event are at the Centre’s absolute discretion.
v. If requested by the Centre you should effect and maintain Events and Public Liability or other insurance to a level notified by the Centre which will indemnify you, your agents or contractors or you or their employees or guests against any claim, costs and expenses incurred in respect of any injury to any person or loss or damage to property howsoever arising from the use of the room by the Hirer and the Hirer shall if so requested by the Centre provide certificates as evidence of such insurance cover.
vi. The Manager of the Centre or nominated person shall have the right to enter at all times all rooms at the Premises in respect of health and safety, fire checks and to the clarify use of the room
vii. Where cinematography exhibitions are given, only non-flammable films may be used and such exhibitions will only be allowed in cases where the public are not admitted or are admitted without payment unless prior written permission of the Centre is obtained.
viii. No flags or emblems shall be erected or displayed and no alteration to lighting arrangement shall be made unless prior written permission of the Centre is obtained. Agreed items may only be affixed to walls or flooring using Blu-Tak or similar adhesive which does not mark or damage the surfaces. The use of glue, staples, drawing pins, Sellotape or other similar materials is not permitted.
ix. The use of balloons filled with flammable gas, or any naked flame or smoke machine is strictly prohibited.
x. The use of ‘ bouncy castles’ at children’s parties is not permitted.
xi. In all cases where any of those present are children, the Hirer must ensure that there are a sufficient number of adults present to maintain order and safety.
xii. Where the premises are being hired for the purpose of any sport or recreational activity the Hirer shall ensure that such activities are supervised by a suitably qualified and experienced person and proof of Public Liability insurance must be produced.
All hire either private or affiliated, groups or individuals, are made on the basis of the information given by the hirer. If any significant fact is misrepresented or omitted the Centre may cancel the letting without notice and without having to pay compensation and be entitled to money otherwise paid or due to be paid.
Affiliated groups are responsible for the behaviour of all their members as a whole. If at a meeting anyone is in breach of the rules, the groups must inform the Manager/Board at once,
Private hirers are responsible for the behaviour of all persons attending their function.
